The Story

This amazing trip incorporates adventure as well as cultural aspects of travelling in Assam and Arunachal.

You start this trip with arrival at Dibrugarh, the tea capital of Assam and then take an "African Queen" type ferry across the mighty Brahmaputra to travel to Pasighat, the oldest town of Arunachal Pradesh. From there on you drive across breathtaking landscapes along the Siang River (Upper Brahmaputra) to Yingkiong, the HQ of Upper Siang District and the home of the Simong Adis. After the insightful drive we take on the mighty Siang River and raft down this amazing river to Pasighat passing numerous Adi Pange & Adi Minyong villages with some fantastic big volume rapids.

Day by Day

Welcome at the airport and transfer to the city. Night in hotel.
You leave the hotel at 6:30 AM for the Dibrugarh Ferry Terminal. A beautiful cruise across the braided flow of the Brahmaputra awaits us. Keep an eye out for freshwater dolphin during the winter months! After reaching the other side of the Brahmaputra, transfer to Arunachal Pradesh's border post. There you clear entry with your Restricted Area Permits, and continue on to reach your hotel in Pasighat by early afternoon. The afternoon is free to explore Pasighat's traditional market, buy souvenirs, and explore. Night in basic hotel.
Drive from Pasighat to Yingkiong; en route drive through numerous villages like Rengging, Rottung, Kebang, Pangin, Boleng, Parong which are all Adi Minyong villages and are in East Siang District. As you enter Upper Siang District, you drive across Geku village (Pange Adi), Komkar (Komkar Adi), Simong, Haleng (Simong Adi) till you arrive at Yingkiong. Night in tent.
After a leisurely breakfast raft down a short distance to come to our first Rapid- Karko Killer (class 3+); camp just after the rapid. Night in tent.
Early start and raft down towards Dite-Dime village; one major rapid- Pangkang (class 4+) where scouting will be required and numerous smaller class 3 rapids; Overnight camp at Dite-Dime. Night in tent.
Early start and raft down through numerous amazing class 3 rapids- notably Dite-Dime rapid, Parong Buteng; thereafter all flat water till camp; major features along the way will be Simang River confluence near Boleng and Siyom River confluence near Yeksi village and Pangi; Overnight camp near Pangi on a large and beautiful beach. Night in tent.
Paddle towards Pangging village; one rapid class 3+ at Rottung; overnight at Pangging beach camp. Night in tent.
Relax day with a hike to visit Pangging village; packed lunch will be provided; overnight at Pangging beach camp. Night in tent.
Scout the Pangging Pongak rapid (class 4) before negotiating the rapid; this will be the last major rapid before we arrive at our take out point at Raneghat; met upon arrival and take a short drive to DH camp & lodges. Night in tent.
Sightseeing around Pasighat with visits to the local emporium, museum, villages and the local market; in the evening sit back and relax with a cultural program (Adi Ponung dance) around a warm bonfire.
Drive upto Oiram Ghat or Kareng Ghat where you enter Assam to take the ferry across the braided flow of the Brahmaputra. Keep an eye out for freshwater dolphin during the winter months! After reaching the other side of the Brahmaputra, drive to Dibrugarh Airport. End of our services.
