The Story

his journey takes you across Nagaland from east to west.

You will visit the verdant hills of Mon where the once-headhunters Konyak Tribe live in all their pride and fierceness. You will visit various villages and get to learn more about Konyak Naga culture. Explore Longwa, a town which is half in Burma and half in India. Head to Tuensang where six different tribes (Sangtam, Khiamniungan, Phom, Chang, Yimchunger and Sumi) inhabit this picturesque land, interspersed with gorges, ridges, hills and valleys. The different customs and practices of the tribes are representative of their tradition. Moving along, you will visit the intellectual and cultural capital of Nagaland - Mokokchung, where the fascinating Ao Tribe live. You will get to see surrounding villages and visit Ao traditional houses, thus learning more about them. The tour will end in the Angami Tribe regions of Kohima and around, where you can stay in home stay, visiting villages and historic remains of WW2.

Day by Day

Welcome at airport and then transfer to hotel. Night in hotel.
Post breakfast we drive to Sibsagar to visit the Ahom monuments and temples which encompass the 600 year old history of the Ahom Dynasty. After lunch at Sivasagar, we drive to Kaziranga National Park and check in hotel. Night in hotel.
Early morning, drive to Chui village. Later return to Mon and after having breakfast full day excursion for Longwa. En route stop at the bank of river Tapi / Taphi and have the packed lunch. Later, return to Mon. Night in Guest House.
Morning after breakfast departs for Tuensang. On the way you can have a glimps of Veda Peak which is the highest in the district. Night in circuit house.
Take a full day excursion to Noklak to see Khiamniungan tribe. In the afternoon return back to Tuensang. Night in circuit house.
Departure for Mokokchung. Visit the cultural capital of Nagaland and drive to the beautiful modern village of Mopungchuket and check in at the small but beautiful lodge constructed and maintained by the village youth of Mopungchuket. Evening free at leisure. Night at basic hotel or homestay.
Spend the day discovering the surroundings. Observe the lifestyle of the Ao Tribe, visit their homes, and learn more about their customs. Visit the district art and culture museum and the town centre to look for handwoven shawls. Another great excursion can be to the nearby village of Mopungchuket. Night at basic hotel or homestay.
Morning drive to Tuophema Village. En route visit Wokha, the Lotha and Angami tribe belt. The time in the afternoon can be used for the exploration of the hamlet, especially the stone from where the villagers are known to take their designs for shawls. For a well spent evening, you can observe the cotton spinning by the local women along with traditional music and songs of the state. Overnight in the traditionally built cottages.
Morning after breakfast witness the traditional cultural show performed by local tribal people. Later depart for the Khonoma Green Village where you will stay in a beautiful homestay, situated in the midst of pine trees. Evening free to enjoy a nature walk. Night in hotel.
After breakfast, drive to Kohima, the state capital. Here you will find some fine weavers as well as a range of wood carvings. A visit to the Sale Emporium is also scheduled thereafter. Some of the other attractions of the place included in the sightseeing are State Museum, War Memorial and a visit to two close by villages Kigwema and Kisama where Hornbill Festival is organized annually. The festival is inclined towards agriculture and is celebrated with great passion. It is held during the first week of December at the Naga Heritage Village. Night in hotel.
Transfer to Airport. End of services.
